NKI Regulations and Conditions of Study

As a student, you will be given a student number which should be used every time you contact NKI.

Conditions of study at NKI AS (Department of Distance Education), from now on referred to as NKI. The conditions apply in distance education and other forms of studies where no other terms are agreed on.

1. NKI's obligations

1.1 NKI shall establish a satisfactory basis for the student to reach study objectives. Accordingly, NKI is obliged to:

- assess and comment on all assignments submitted by the student as part of the course

- give the student service and guidance in connection with the studies

- supply a syllabus and plan of study for courses and programs

- develop study material in accordance with the current syllabus and curriculum of the course. NKI may change the curriculum at any time.

- Distribution of material. If no other information is given, the student will automatically receive the study material for one module - for tertiary studies 5 (Norwegian) Credit Points (vekttall) at a time.

1.2 After completing the study program and passing all relevant exams, the student will receive a program certificate. On request NKI will supply a transcript of course grades or other verification of student status.

1.3. NKI covers postage costs for distribution of study material and other mail from NKI. There may be extra charges for air mail.

2. The student's obligations

The student pays the course fees for each module in advance.

Other conditions concerning financial obligations are stated in the current price lists. NKI reserves the right to change prices and conditions of payment.

In addition to course fees the student has to pay examination fees.
Internet courses and programs: expenses for hardware are covered by the student. Necessary programming software will be charged separately.

NKI may charge for payment reminders and charge interest on overdue payments.

The student is responsible for keeping returned assignments and study envelopes until the program is completed (or cancelled) and the course certificate has been issued. This does not apply to Internet studies.

The student must follow rules and regulations in force at NKI.

The student must complete courses within 2 years from the dispatch of study material from NKI.

The time limit may be extended by agreement with NKI.

NKI learning material distributed on the WWW is protected by copyright act. You are allowed to make a copy (printed or electronically) for your own use in your studies at NKI.

3. Contract information

The obligations of the parties according to this agreement apply for the whole study program. NKI's obligations cease to apply when the time limit for completion of studies has been exceeded.

The student may cancel the contract free of charge before the study material has been dispatched.

The student may also cancel the contract within 14 days after the receipt of the study material. The study material must be returned together with a letter of cancellation, and the student will be charged a handling fee as stated in the price list.

NKI has the right to withhold the certificate, transcripts or other confirmations of student status if the student's financial obligations in connection with the studies have not been met.

If one of the parties fails to fulfil the obligations according to this agreement, the other party may cancel the contract.

If the student fails to pay on the due date, the contract may be cancelled after the student has been informed in writing.

NKI may cancel the contract if the student has not submitted any assignments for 6 months without notifying NKI.

Cancellation of the contract must be done formally in writing.

The conditions of study have been read and accepted. If you are under 18 years old, your guardian also has to sign.
